Google Interest-Based Ads

By CertifiedHosting 03/13/2009

Google "interest-based" ads launched last week. According to the release on Google's blog, "Advertising is the lifeblood of the digital economy...By making ads more relevant, and improving the connection between advertisers and our users, we can create more value for everyone."

Up until now, Google has offered ads relevant to your current search terms. For example, if you were to search for 'ipods' it would show ads relevant to that term. With "interest-based" ads, a cookie will monitor your searches over a period of time and display ads relevant to your interests. In addition, you will have the option to select favorite categories.

Currently only available with Google's partner sites and YouTube, Google is definitely a step ahead in the online advertising game.

Thanks to TheWhir and Google for information regarding this launch.
